According to monitoring data, in 2022, the daytime compliance rate and nighttime compliance rate of the national acoustic environment functional zones were 96.0% and 86.6%, respectively. From the perspective of various acoustic environmental functional zones, the compliance rates of daytime and nighttime have increased to varying degrees compared to the same period last year. The overall level of sound environment in urban areas across the country is “good” and “good”, with 5% and 66.3% respectively.

Jiang Huohua, Deputy Director of the Ecological Environment Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said that by the end of this year, an acoustic environment quality monitoring network covering all urban functional areas at prefecture level and above would be completed. Starting from January 1, 2025, cities at or above the prefecture level nationwide will fully implement automatic monitoring of sound environment quality in functional areas. The ecological environment department is comprehensively strengthening the monitoring of regional noise, social life noise, and noise sources. All regions, relevant public place management departments, and industrial noise emission units shall implement their noise monitoring responsibilities in accordance with the law.
