Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu Meets with Brazilian Special Envoy for Climate Change Luis Machado

On June 16, Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu met with Brazilian Special Envoy for Climate Change Luis Machado in Beijing. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on topics such as addressing climate change and biodiversity conservation.

Huang Runqiu reviewed the good cooperation between China and Brazil in the field of climate change and biodiversity conservation, introduced China’s ideas, policies and actions to address climate change in the past decade, as well as its historic achievements, and thanked Pakistan for its support to the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. He expressed his willingness to further strengthen communication and coordination with the Pakistani side on climate change issues, and jointly promote the establishment of a fair, reasonable, and win-win global climate governance system.

Machado spoke highly of China’s achievements in green and low-carbon development and its efforts to actively respond to climate change. He congratulated China, as the President of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, on its leadership and promotion of the meeting to achieve historic results, and looked forward to deepening friendly cooperation with China in the field of ecological environment and jointly addressing global climate challenges.
