In order to implement the national major strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, crack down on illegal transfer and dumping of solid waste in the Yellow River Basin, and ensure the ecological and environmental safety of the Yellow River Basin, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently issued a notice on deepening the investigation and rectification of solid waste dumping in the Yellow River Basin from 2023 to 2024, comprehensively deploying the investigation and rectification of solid waste dumping in the Yellow River Basin.
Since 2021, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has organized the “Waste Removal Action” in the Yellow River Basin for two consecutive years, comprehensively investigating and rectifying the dumping of solid waste in the main stream and some tributaries (sections) of the Yellow River. A total of 9 provinces (autonomous regions) and 55 cities (autonomous prefectures) in the Yellow River Basin have been investigated, covering an area of approximately 133000 square kilometers. A total of 2049 problem points have been identified, and a total of 88.882 million tons of solid waste have been cleared. Through rectification, the ecological and environmental security risks in the Yellow River Basin have been effectively prevented, laying a solid foundation for implementing the national major strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
From 2023 to 2024, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will further strengthen the rectification efforts on the basis of consolidating the “waste removal action” in the Yellow River Basin from 2021 to 2022. The important tributaries, important lakes and reservoirs, key industrial parks, national nature reserves, national scenic spots and other areas in the 9 provinces (autonomous regions) of the Yellow River Basin will be included in the scope of investigation and rectification, covering an area of nearly 200000 square kilometers. A comprehensive investigation and rectification will be conducted on the dumping of solid waste, Continuously pushing forward the “waste removal action” in the Yellow River Basin.
Deepening the investigation and rectification of solid waste dumping in the Yellow River Basin is an important measure to promote pollution control and improve the ecological environment of the Yellow River from the source. This “waste removal action” in the Yellow River Basin will further strengthen source control, force local governments to strengthen the construction of solid waste disposal capacity, urge solid waste generation and disposal units to strengthen their own management, and maintain a high-pressure situation of cracking down on illegal and criminal activities of solid waste, forming a strong deterrent, thus achieving the goal of addressing both the root cause and root cause.
